Just a few weeks ago, ECF's very own Transmission team was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit the TAPP Steel Pole factory in Guadalajara, Mexico.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Steel Pole Manufacturing

From the moment the team arrived at the factory, they were given a comprehensive tour of the entire manufacturing process. It all begins with the flattening of rolled steel, transforming large coils into workable sheets. Next, the steel is carefully welded onto base plates, ensuring structural integrity and durability. The final step in their process is galvanizing — a critical phase that protects the steel from corrosion and extends the lifespan of their poles.

TAPPs operation is truly state of the art. In fact, TAPP is currently constructing the largest steel pole galvanizer in America — a testament to their commitment to innovation and quality. During their visit, the team had the chance to see this impressive infrastructure firsthand. For instance, they got to see the large blue and yellow oven that will be part of the new galvanizing line. It’s a genuine marvel of contemporary manufacturing, showcasing their commitment to excellence.

Team members Bill Kaminski, Tameka Augustin, Quentin Allen stood in front of an oven that will be part of the TAPP factory's new galvanizing line.

First-Class Hospitality and Cultural Experiences

Beyond the impressive manufacturing facility, the Transmission team, guided by their host Guillermo, got a chance to experience the culture of Guadalajara. Guillermo took the team to some of Guadalajara’s finest restaurants every day, where they savored authentic cuisine and learned more about the vibrant local culture. These culinary excursions offered a taste of the city’s rich traditions and warm hospitality.

The team also enjoyed a cultural day trip to Tlaquepaque, a nearby city renowned for its artistic heritage. There, they explored historic buildings, admired local artisans’ craftsmanship, and appreciated the vibrant art scene that makes Tlaquepaque a must-visit destination. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community and gain deeper insight into the cultural fabric of the region.

Looking Forward

Our visit to TAPP in Guadalajara was not only a chance to witness firsthand the advanced manufacturing processes behind their steel poles but also an inspiring experience that emphasized the importance of combining innovation, quality, and cultural appreciation. We’re excited to see how TAPP continues to lead in the industry with their state-of-the-art facilities and dedication to excellence.

Thank you again to the TAPP Steel Pole Factory for having us. Stay tuned for more updates from ECF as we continue to collaborate with partners who are shaping the future of infrastructure with craftsmanship and care.
