ECF recently had the distinct pleasure of sending our very own Maxie Kirk Williams and Attiyya Houston to the eagerly awaited 2025 AABE Conference, which took place in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia. It's noteworthy to acknowledge that this is the 48th National conference held for this organization.

The national organization is dedicated to providing a platform to ensure that African American and other minority groups involved in research, energy policies, regulations, developmental technologies and environmental issues have a safe place to speak their minds, cultivate new ideas, build long-lasting connections, and continue to increase the presence of minorities in the energy sector.

This annual gathering brought together a diverse group of professionals, key decision-makers, and innovators from across the energy sector, creating a unique platform for collaboration, networking and knowledge sharing. During the conference, both Maxie and Attiyya had the invaluable opportunity to gain new insights into a range of topics that are shaping the future of the energy industry.

The conference featured a series of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops led by industry experts who shared their perspectives on the current challenges and opportunities within the sector. Maxie and Attiyya engaged in thought-provoking discussions that delved into emerging policies aimed at promoting sustainability, as well as the latest technological advancements that are revolutionizing energy production and consumption. They explored how these innovations can be leveraged to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.

Furthermore, Maxie and Attiyya took part in discussions surrounding equity and inclusion within the energy sector, emphasizing the importance of diverse voices in shaping policies that affect communities nationwide. They recognized that addressing these issues is critical to ensuring that the benefits of energy advancements are accessible to all, particularly marginalized groups who have historically been underrepresented in this field.

Overall, the experience at the 2025 AABE Conference was not only enlightening for Maxie and Attiyya, but it also reinforced ECF's commitment to staying at the forefront of industry developments. The insights and connections they gained will undoubtedly contribute to our ongoing efforts to promote innovation and inclusivity within the energy sector, ultimately benefiting our organization and the communities we serve.
